The vehicle is a BMW 420D, initial registration: 03/28/2014 The production vehicle has the following additional extras, which have an effect on the fuel consumption and are therefore included. 19" rims with 255/35 tires at the rear and 225/35 tires at the front (still winter tires at the moment). Navigation Professional with Connected Drive LED/Xenon light Leather interior with sports seats, comfort sunroof and other extras
The vehicle has original 184 hp + additional 51 hp through chip tuning (Ultimate Race Chip) thus 235 HP. The ECOPower Fuel Saver-M has been in use since the end of October 2014. The ECOPower Fuel Saver was installed when the mileage was around 31,000. The chip tuning at 27400 km.
Since I took the measurements in late autumn and at cooler temperatures and with winter tires, the consumption values in summer are probably lower. Already in spring with warmer temperatures, the consumption values have already fallen.
Now to my experience report:
After installing the Fuelsaver at the end of October 2014 with the assembly kit in the plastic fuel line (hard plastic) in the underbody area (supply line), I noticed during the first few kilometers that the diesel knocking was significantly lower (I estimate around 40%). On the first trip I was traveling from Landau/Palatinate in the direction of Mainz and, despite 40 minutes in a traffic jam (stop and go) and then continued driving at approx. 90 km/h with cruise control, I had an average consumption of 4.1 liters.
The average consumption before FuelSaver was installed was as follows:
On a straight line (80 km/h with cruise control) -> 4.4 liters
On a straight line (90 km/h with cruise control) -> 4.5 liters
On a straight line (100 km/h with cruise control) -> 4.7 liters
On a straight line (180 km/h with cruise control) -> 8.7 liters
In city traffic approx. 6.7 litres/100 km/h
After installing the Fuelsaver:
On a straight line (80 km/h with cruise control) -> 3.7 liters - savings: 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers
On a straight line (90 km/h with cruise control) -> 3.8 liters - savings: 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers
On a straight stretch (100 km/h with cruise control) -> 4.0 liters - savings: 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers
On a straight line (180 km/h with cruise control) -> 5.7 liters - savings: 3 liters per 100 kilometers
In city traffic approx. 5.2 litres/100 km/h: saving: 1.5 litres
Outside temperature when measured about 5-11 degrees Celius
A few days ago at 21 degrees I had a consumption of 3.4 liters on a straight stretch with 80 km/h cruise control.
I had an exhaust emission measurement carried out for the vehicle in January. BMW stopped here because they thought something was wrong with their measuring device and didn't charge me for it. They only said that the exhaust gas values show underground values and that I can repeat the test after readjusting the device, which I will do again soon.
